JetBlue, Fraport USA, and Port Authority partner to revamp JFK Terminal 5
JetBlue, in collaboration with New York and New Jersey Port Authority, and airport operator, Fraport USA, announced its plans to renovate John F. Kennedy International Airport’s Terminal 5, to improve travellers’ experience.
As part of the Port Authority’s $19 billion overhaul of the terminal, it will feature 40 new concessions, 18 new local food and beverage options, art installations, and a transformed centre concourse inspired by the city parks.
Sabine Trenk, chief executive of Fraport USA, said of the partnership: “Together, we share a bold vision of transforming the customer experience — delivering a world-class, dynamic retail and dining destination that captivates customers while driving economic growth and innovation.”
This is the first major refresh the terminal has undergone since it was expanded in 2014 and is expected to begin opening concessions from 2025 through to the end of 2026, when it aims to be completed.
JetBlue and its partners claim the renovation will create-well-paying jobs, stimulate economic growth, and uplift local businesses around New York, as well as transform the terminal into its own cultural destination.
Marty St. George, JetBlue president, said: “This isn’t just about new dining and shopping—it’s about bringing the energy of New York into the terminal. From local flavours to spaces that capture the city we love, we’re making T5 more uniquely New York while staying unmistakably JetBlue.”
Port Authority executive director, Rick Cotton, also commented: “JetBlue and Fraport’s commitment to delivering world-class amenities and concessions to our customers aligns with the Port Authority’s goal of transforming JFK into one of the world’s great global gateways.”
