JetSMART, a U.S.-backed low-cost carrier that operates primarily in South America, is set to expand its operations in the US with new sales channels, accessible through travel agencies.
Estuardo Ortiz, chief executive of JetSMART, said of the new expansion: “At JetSMART we are innovating, launching sales in the United States. Undoubtedly this is the cornerstone of our expansion project…We see enormous potential in connecting new passengers in the United States to destinations in Latin America to promote development, tourism and connectivity.”
JetSMART operates more than 80 domestic and international routes in the South American region, and its ultra-low-cost business model has allowed it to carry more than 35 million passengers on its fleet of 44 new Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft.
As the region’s largest and fastest growing ultra-low-cost carrier, the airline has plans to increase its fleet to more than 100 aircraft by 2028 and expects the new sales channels to the US will help by increasing accessibility and enhancing its value proposition.
Victor Mejia, chief commercial officer of JetSMART, said: “The launch of sales in the United States is very important and strategic for JetSMART, as we open a world of possibilities for passengers who want to travel within South America and all its interesting destinations.”
