StandardAero has opened a 70,000 sq ft expansion of its Winnipeg operations, adding capacity for CF34 and CFM56 engine maintenance.
The expanded facility provides full MRO support for GE Aerospace CF34-3 and CF34-8 engines, alongside CFM International CFM56 turbofans, as the company responds to growing demand from commercial and military operators.
The CF34-8 powers regional aircraft including the Embraer E170/E175 and CRJ700/CRJ900, while the CF34-3 is used on the CRJ200 and Bombardier Challenger 600/850 family.
StandardAero’s CFM56 capabilities support engines powering aircraft including the Boeing 737 NG and Airbus A320ceo, as well as military platforms such as the P-8A Poseidon.
Peter Wheatley, vice president and general manager - CF34/CFM56 at StandardAero, said demand for support across the two engine families continues to grow.
“By combining additional capacity with world-class equipment, talent and processes, we are delivering on our commitment to deliver operational excellence,” he said.
The investment also expands StandardAero’s footprint in the city where the company was founded 115 years ago.
It currently employs around 1,500 people across eight Winnipeg facilities serving commercial, military and business aviation customers.
StandardAero chairman and chief executive officer Russell Ford said the investment reflected the company’s confidence in its Winnipeg operations and would strengthen its ability to support CF34 and CFM56 customers globally.
