Emirates mark continued Arsenal partnership with aircraft parts club crest unveiling

An iconic name in the world of aviation and an iconic sporting club have collaborated on a special project that showcases the precision and professionalism of aircraft engineering air cargo.

Last week a special Arsenal FC crest was unveiled at the entrance of the directors’ box and Diamond Club section of the Emirates stadium in north London built entirely from retired aircraft parts.

The reigning Premier League champions and Emirates have a long-standing partnership with the Dubai carrier’s name on their shirts and the 60,000 capacity stadium that Arsenal have called home since 2006 having left its spiritual home Highbury.

The new 2.4-metre illuminated crest sculpture was designed and constructed over 34 days by a team of 15 engineers at Emirates Engineering before being shipped to London by Emirates SkyCargo.

Having been packaged in a custom-built, protective crate, the Aircrafted Arsenal Crest was handed over to air freight experts at Emirates SkyCargo, to be loaded into a freighter that took off from Dubai bound for London Stansted.

With decades of experience in handling everything from specialised technology through to ancient artifacts, the airline’s cargo arm ensured this unique delivery was handled with care and arrived in perfect condition to be installed.

Beyond transporting the Crest, aircraft components from cargo operations were used in the build itself, including cargo tracks, floor panels and roller components to help structure and shape the iconic emblem.

Emirates have released a video that tells of the story of the people, processes and aviation expertise behind this project, and offers a closer look at how Emirates brought together expertise across its operations to create this tribute to one of its longest-standing partnerships.

The Emirates and Arsenal partnership first began in 2006, and has recently been extended through to 2033. As the partners enter the next chapter of their partnership, Emirates has confirmed it will continue as Arsenal’s shirt, training kit and stadium naming rights partner.
