Following a successful proof of concept, the enhancement enables online travel agencies (OTAs), travel management companies (TMCs), and travel sellers to automate airline onboarding and dynamically access carrier capabilities. The move addresses industry fragmentation across NDC, GDS and low-cost carrier channels.
Praveen Kumar, co-founder and chief technology officer at TPConnects Technologies, said: “The travel ecosystem is moving toward AI-driven commerce, conversational booking, and automated agents – but these systems need structured, machine-readable access to airline capabilities. MCP provides that layer.”
Built on Iris’s existing aggregation infrastructure, the MCP integration standardises airline data and allows AI agents, chatbots and automated booking systems to interpret and utilise airline content natively.
The company said the development will accelerate innovation, simplify content access and support the transition towards AI-driven travel distribution.
